How can I find a 1975 news source from Saint Andrews, Scotland? Hi there, I'm trying to find out about the demolition of a house in Saint Andrews, Scotland in 1975 But I'm not sure where to look. The house was suddenly boarded up one day and then demolished. None of the friends of the person who lived there have any idea of where she went. She just vanished. How can I find this out? Please help :)

Were the car bombing in Scotland and the two attempted car bombings in London last week on US news? I saw another question about this and people were asking what the connection between Dr's and terrorists were. Pretty obvious considering the recent terrrorist attack involving 4 Doctors working for the health service who were involved in carrying it out, or was this not reported in America? VLT 505, that's right it was your question and those two answers that mad me wonder. Having lived in Canad 10 years I listened to a lot of Us news to and on returning to UK or yuk as I call it (weather) found I knew almost nothing about things like IRA or protests against us neuclar basis here. This was in the mid 70's though. I think things have changed.
Would you like a return of the Scotland Vs England games? Talk in the paper a few days ago about a return to the games against England. Yay or nay? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/scotland/news/2010/01/13/scotland-v-england-international-friendlies-back-on-the-agenda-86908-21964270/

As Scotland is very much in the news do you think? a Scottish joke would be in order? A Glaswegian stops before a graveyard in a Gorbals cemetery, and notices a carved tombstone declaring, "Here lies a lawyer and an honest man..." "Ach, who'd ever think..." he murmered, "there'd be enough room fer two men in that one wee grave..." No offence intended Derek- i think it was a bad decision on the part of some people so don't say I'm taking P ok?
what would the punishment be if you lived in mississippi and this happen, heard it on the news in scotland,,,? that a man had ran over to people while under the influence of cocain and alcohol, and killed 1 and the other person is still fighting for there life, and the driver didnt even stop , and when they were cought. all the person was given was 100 hours of community service, ,i think that would be man slawter ,but i could be wrong , ,, i know it wouldnt be a little slap on the hand with community service for taking someones life, what is wrong with society , the family of these poor people the pain of what has happen must be unbairable, what would the pinility be on something like this in mississippi,????????
Do the American, people know how much Jack Nicklaus, is loved in Scotland? Golden Bear says he does not want to spoil the memories of his last round ... Even when he walks through a wrong door he is love-bombed. ... Still clearly in golf clinic mode – he spent much of his time in St Andrews .... Jack Nicklaus is a global ambassador for RBS and was in the UK this week . Jack Nicklaus to appear on Scottish bank notes. Jack Nicklaus has been given keys to the city, received honorary degrees and had a bronze monument erected. Scottish Golf View - Golf News from Scotland: Golden Bear says RBS, ROYAL BANK of SCOTLAND.
Why do we always get bad news from the media? In England Television and newspapers always headline knife crime and murders, in Germany its child neglect and youth services and i am sure in France or whatever its something else. I honestly cant be asked to read the news anymore as they make me depressed. It sounds like our society is at the brink of collapse which of course (in my view) is not helping at all. Sure those things like child neglect and youth crime need to be highlighted but do they have to dominate our news every single fkucing day? It seems that the news is too heavily concentrating on war, crime, murder, drugs and accidents. I mean why should i care in London if someone in Scotland has a car accident??????? Thats not news. People have fatal car accidents every day. Just an example of a daily topic on the BBC. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/7515315.stm Do you honestly think the world/country we live in is as bad as the media portrays it?
Whatever happend to the direct flights from Scotland to Moscow? reading some old newspaper articles, and they said Scotland would have direct flights to Russia, but nothing ever came of it. Is there any news of it? or chance of it coming? This is the first time i've asked this question. Dont make false allegations.
why does the news always concentrate on the negative side of everything? The news always seems bad and i think its because they will always look for the negative in every story. For example latest figures show that in the UK we are starting to drink and smoke less (surely a positive) but instead the BBC have decided to concentrate on the fact that men drink more than women and we drink more in England than in Wales or Scotland. why do they insist on emphasising the negative, is this why 90% of the discussions on this website are negative?
The good news is property prices here in Scotland are still on the rise while prices in the rest of the UK? fall. Do you think that property prices in Scotland will also fall or do you think we will be okay. I am wanting to buy a house but I am not sure if I should wait and see if the prices go down in Scotland as well or buy now in case they keep going up. What is your opinion on what I should do. Wait or buy now? I would love to know where member ID Knownow't stays where you can get a 3 bed semi for 140K.. Here in Glasgow you would be lucky to get a 2 bed house for that. I went to look at a one bed flat last week and it was 257K
good or bad news for the lovely scottish people? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2008/11/24/donald-trump-threatens-to-drop-1bn-scots-golf-project-over-planning-delays-86908-20919994/ i'm just worried his toupee escapes and tries to breed with the newly introduced wild beaver in scotland. so is it good or bad for the fine scots.
Does a news story ever fill you with a whole multitude of emotions? This story did it for me The absolute bravery of this child, the maturity and character of her of in probably the most evil of crimes Then the picture of the little scum****, his cocky learing face and absolute desire to rip his head of shoulders and do to him the greatest possible physical harm. What do you think? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/tayside_and_central/8081198.stm
Why weren't Dimtards upset about Scotland freeing a terrorist before the oil leak? BP did NOT release the terrorist. This is old news and he was released by the elected government of Scotland. If the Scottish government leaders take money from BP to release a terrorist, the first guilty party is are the Scottish leaders. I thought it was appalling when it was announced. But, you didn't hear Dimtards in Congress get upset. Why wasn't 0bama upset about it when it happened?
Does anyone actually know how far scotland are taking their smoking ban? It is getting ridiculous in scotland. People cant walk past a school smoking, or stand at a bus stop, or smoke within 3 feet of a shop, aswell as not being able to smoke in the pubs and what not! In i way i agree with it, if it going to save people's lives. But they are taking this ban too far. You cant go anywhere in scotland without seeing people standing outside a pub smoking, well the latest news on that is they are going to be fined £50 on the spot! It's already started in some places. A council member, and someone from a smoking society with a POLICE ESCORT. Going around issuing fines, left right and center!!! Now is there not a thief, murderer, rapist,or peadophile to go looking for??NO, they would rather use their police resources to catch people smoking outside a shop and pub!!! It is a nanny state, and the people of england have got it all to come!
great news to see stevei naismith getting called up for scotland!? why has it taken so long? his club form has been superb can killie realisticly hang on to this boy im a hoops fan but i am an admirer of this lads football talent rangers are trying to steal him on the cheap they should pay the right money for him i appreciate that rangers may or may not be the only club he ever wanted to play for but why should killie miss out
Why do poppies in Scotland not look as pretty as the ones in England,? The poppies that you see people wearing in England on the news and stuff all have more to them, than the ones in Scotland, they have leaves on them as well. Also why do the poppies in Scotland not have little pins anymore, they are a nightmare to attach, the ones with the plastic bits are too thick and the ones with the sticky back dont stick. What was wrong with metal pins. Could they not make safer ones without pins for kids.
What Do You Think Of Scotland Releasing Terrorist Baset al-Megrahi To Die At Home? Scotland decided to release, on compassionate grounds, terrorist Baset al-Megrahi who is responsible for the Pam Am Flight 03 bombing that blew up over the airport terminal, killing over 200. He was released to die at home because he is suffering from cancer and this has caused international outrage. http://news.aol.com/article/lockerbie-bomber-abdel-baset-al-megrahi/449924
What is it with Scotland and releasing controversial prisoners? After the lockerbie bomber got released we are now going to release someone who hacked his Dads head off and played football with it in broad daylight. Hope he doesnt move back to castle douglas ha ha. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2009/09/21/maniac-who-cut-off-dad-s-head-and-kicked-it-around-like-football-poised-for-freedom-86908-21689287/ Carstairs cutting a 100 beds, thats shocking.

When did Alex Salmond say that Scotland will be independent by 2007? I need to know the year he said it. I read it in an article but don't know the exact year. Any ideas? I read he said it here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/463953.stm however it doesn't say when Salmond said it. Please help and if you have the source too it would be greatly appreciated
Is this good news for the Scotland squad? Barry Ferguson is doubtful for the game against Holland Ally i'm actually a Rangers fan who doesn't rate Barry Ferguson and he seems to do this all the time when it comes to playing for his country, he can play through the pain barrier for his club but when it comes to playing for his country it's a different story
According to news reports the summer of 2006 in Britain was the hottest and driest on record. How do they work out what the temperature was,as,on an extreme day the difference in temperature between the south east of England and Shetland can be up to 20 degrees centigrade, and 12 to 15 degrees difference is commonplace-so do they take an average from all over the country or do they,as I suspect, just consider the area around the London Weather Centre as representing the whole of the UK? How,also, can they claim that the summer of 2006 was the driest on record, when in actual fact it was extremely wet and cool in many parts of Scotland? Does anyone know how the figures are worked out?
Is this another good news day ploy by Gordon Brown? Brown envelopes have been sent to pensioners throughout the UK telling people they will be receiving winter fuel payments within the "next three weeks." So why today of all days? Yes you may have guessed it. There is a bye election in Scotland today. Could that have anything to do with it? Surely not. He wouldn't do that would he?
why should anyone support a teacher for defending themselves thesedays? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/tayside_and_central/7818230.stm right me fed up with these stupid rulings by so called law enforcement sheriffs and judges, its about time they joined the rest of us and lived in the real world. anyway, views on the article, tvm. um oh yes, does scotland still have sheriffs, hmm strange.
LGBT: What do you think of this news on a gay minister? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/8059471.stm I'm sorry, but isn't it about time some of the human race grew up? I'm sick of these type of christians who think they know it all. Isn't this a good time for this church to finally accept gay people when there are gay ministers?
Why do we call itThe National News.? When it is always biased towards England. England's rugby win(which I think is great by the way, congrats) was headline news yet Scotland won and are doing so well and they got a small mention 3rd agenda. It is the same for wesh and N. Irish I think it is very unfair. It is supposed to be the NATIONAL news Andy it is broadcast ALL over UK.
Why do most women approve of wives hitting their husbands? SURVEY FINDS MALE ABUSE APPROVAL http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/glasgow_and_west/5092100.stm More than half of women questioned at a Glasgow university said they approved of wives hitting their husbands. The Glasgow Caledonian students were among 6,500 women surveyed from 36 universities for an international study into attitudes on domestic violence. Worldwide, more than 4,800 female students approved of assaulting their partner and 2,000 admitted to pushing, shoving, slapping, throwing objects and twisting their partner's arms or hair. Why do most women approve of this domestic violence against men? Oh yeah and in anticipation of women going "well I don't approve of violence against anyone". Answer the question. Statistics > Biased anecdotes. amancalledj - it was just conducted in Glasgow, the data was gathered from female college students all over the world.
How could a vegan diet be safe and practical for infants and small children? This girl was put on a strict vegan diet, and ended up with a degenerative bone disease that left her with the spine of an 80 year old: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/scotland/article4087977.ece I understand the philosophy of veganism, and I am interested, BUT people do come first. How could this girl's diet have been structured safely and still be considered vegan?
why do yanks never know what is happening in the news in England? MIssing madeline -heard of her? It really annoys me an English girl a 4 year old has been abducted in Portugal. My friend having returned from the states said there is nothing on the news there about it. If she had been American we all would have heard it. Whenever your teens go mad and go on shooting sprees in schools we hear it - over here in 1996 a madman shot 16 young children (average age 5) and their teacher dead in a school in Scotland it was hardly mentioned in American news - America is too caught up in itself for goodness sake theres a whole world out there look beyond your door!
in scotland has age restrictions on college access courses been scrapped ? had a chat with a girl in college today about access courses, like ones that you take a year in college and then go into university for that specific course if you do well. not social sciences though im talking about dietetics and podiatry. she seemed quite adamant but ive heard nowt about it. i know if im really that interested i should call up a university or college and ask but im just wondering if ive just missed it like on the news or something. any help is appreciated mucho x

Scotland Team for Olympics, London 2012 - NO GB Team!? I cannot believe what I am hearing on the news. If Scotland get their way they want a seperate team for the 2012 Olymipcs. The England Scotland divide seems to be more of an issue for the Scots than it does us English - well I am sick of it now. If you want to be seperate then you know what you can do............. Answer 1 (link): That is just one example of an ignorant individual. Team GB is Great Britain all of us united. It is time to forget whatever happened xxx years ago. Now is NOW. As far as I am concerned it is the Scots that are filled with hate. You don't see English people supporting the rival team when Scotland are playing international football. I know what it is like when the England football team is playing - a lot of Scots are just filled with unecessary hate and I am at a loss to why.
Why is there a BBC News Special about the snow on? When it Snows in Scotland and the North of England, they don't make a special programme?? My point being that: everything centres on the South of England especially London. A news special is usually something that involves the whole country.... The news doesn't tell you how to deal with snow, just that there is snow, lots of it in one part of the country. A Scottish DJ has just summed it up. Schools down south were closed last night in preparation for the snow?? Schools in Scotland only close when they absolutely have to. There is more to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland than one city. I am fed up of everything revolving around the South. Even the blooming weather forecast misses Yorkshire out.
If Scotland abolishes Council Tax, how long before England copies it? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7285326.stm For those that don't know, the Scottish Parliament has had the power, since its inception, to vary income tax rates in Scotland. So far, it hasn't used that power but is considering doing so in order to abolish the hated Council Tax.
