Why is there a BBC News Special about the snow on?

When it Snows in Scotland and the North of England, they don't make a special programme?? My point being that: everything centres on the South of England especially London. A news special is usually something that involves the whole country.... The news doesn't tell you how to deal with snow, just that there is snow, lots of it in one part of the country. A Scottish DJ has just summed it up. Schools down south were closed last night in preparation for the snow?? Schools in Scotland only close when they absolutely have to. There is more to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland than one city. I am fed up of everything revolving around the South. Even the blooming weather forecast misses Yorkshire out.

1. Because here in England we can deal with any weather at all - a few weeks ago it was a bit windy and all the planes stopped and every one went mental, a couple of weeks before that it was a bit foggy and the whole country had to shut down, a month or two before that we didn't have much rain and the whole country had a drought and that was despite the fact a few months before that we had a bit too much rain and the whole place flooded! And now you expect people to deal with a whole inch of snow?! Forget it!!
2. agreed..we get snow in the North much worse than the southerners do...it's typical of this country..a bit of snow and everything grinds to a halt.
3. Because the BBC is desperate to show cheap and crappy programmes in order to try to convince us that the government should let it have more of our money. The crass thoughtlessness of a National broadcaster only being interested in one particular region, albeit the most densely populated, is part and parcel of the way the BBC has ripped us off for years and will continue to do until brought under accountable control.
4. Like to dramitise anything, especially on a slow news day.
5. BBC felt they have an interesting story and they do need fill air time with shows.
6. After all the heat of "global warming" news, they wanted to cool the hearts of people with some "cool" news.

It may be because the south is the where the money is and is made (no not the mint) Big brother, big business, stock exchange The City, all one square mile of it, and a lot snow causes disruption of travelling to work and if you cannot get to work, well, you cannot get to work, to work. It could also be because we are not used to snow in any great amount, and unfortunately we have learned to do without it. So when we have as much snow as we have had today it causes problems and those at the BBC think we are all watching TV, but we're not we outside playing in the snow. I personally love snow and was out 0700hrs doing my bit for the kids, it is lovely, inspiring, enlightening, a reason for being of school without officials telling you or your parents off! We'll have fun instead. Let's have more and more and more snow please, at least a weeks worth.
8. Because snow is not a common occurrence, people need to know how to deal with it since it keeps crippling the transport system. It really isnt hard to understand...

12. The maps used by the BBC end at the M25 - beyond that it's just blank space marked as 'unknown foreign land'. Don't know how old you are but do you remember the winter of 1995/6 in Scotland? - coldest temperatures on record, the country was at a standstill, even the sea froze. The headlines? - it was cold in Luton. Here's an interesting game for you - watch a weather forecast then compare it to the actual weather. Scotland is frequently warmer, drier and sunnier than forecast and the southeast is frequently colder, wetter and duller than forecast. And don't the media love to go on about the short days in Scotland in winter, but why do they never mention the almost round the clock daylight in summer?
